About Me

Personal Photo

I was born and raise in the border city of El Paso, Texas. Ever since I was young, I strived to make the most of myself, participating in community sports, educational clubs (specifically school math club), and Boy Scouts. This kept me active and spending a lot of time either outdoors or solving equations, which is where my fascination with nature(greenery) and my love of math began. Both are big parts of my identity to this day.

As I grew I started to push myself in the activities I was doing. For high school I attended a Running Start focused establishment. I sacrificed school sports (however, still participated in city sports) to be on a track to get my Associates degree as I graduated. However, through my determination and distinguished achievement I was able to receive my Associates degree a year early and attend extracurricular college classes for my senior year. 1 of 3 students to accomplish that feat for the city of El Paso.

Then came college, this was part of the hardest times of my life. I traveled across the states to attend college at the University of Washington I Seattle, WA. I stayed with relatives who helped me adjust but none of us were ready or knew what life had in store for myself. In my second semester of college my father’s mental health deteriorated which inevitably caused him to reveal dark truths about my immediate family, some that altered the entire reality of the people I knew and the events of my childhood. This led to a very unstable environment for me mentally and concluded with my withdrawal as I faced my own mental health crisis.

From there I re-established myself and entered the workforce start earning money to start paying on accumulated debt. Here I started to excel because I was able to put in work with a structured environment. It helped me attain achievement and experience moving up from a starting positions to a lead positions at every job I had. Even taking over manager positions at multiple locations. It is in the customer service industry, specifially work at Fred Meyer, that led me to me my amazing fiancé, in which I also recieved the blessing of a beautful (step)daughter that has become the love of my life.

However, with this new found family, the job I was currently at, and the industry itself just isn't a able to provide a comfortable life. The job itself also was repetitive with no real changes in routine unless problems were making the day worse and the motivation to excel was fading in this environment. This is when I started looking into new career opportunities to expand my horizons and provide for a better lifestyle. After a while of searching, I ran into Coding Dojo and their program peaked my interest. From there I saved and was able to partake in the bootcamp and learn the skills necessary to become a software developer. Now I am on the search for future opportunities to increase my skills and deepen my knowledge
